Pentapeptide-18 (Leuphasyl®)

Pentapeptide-18, also known as Leuphasyl®, is a synthetic pentapeptide with the sequence Tyr-D-Ala-Gly-Phe-Leu. This peptide mimics the action of natural enkephalins, endogenous opioids that inhibit neuronal activity. It effectively reduces expression wrinkles by modulating calcium (Ca²⁺) channels and relaxing facial muscles through an alternative mechanism to Botulinum toxin (Botox®).
